Final Closing of Atlantis Project in Poland

Since establishing SINO-CEE Fund II in Luxembourg in November 2022, SINO-CEEF has been firmly dedicated to advancing clean energy and ESG investment initiatives, kept a close watch on renewable energy investment projects in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and other regions along the Belt and Road Initiative, and worked tirelessly to build an influential, market-oriented, professional and innovative green development fund under the framework of multilateral cooperation between China and CEE countries. Recently, SINO-CEE Fund II has successfully completed the final closing of Atlantis PV project, which it invested independently in Poland.

The Atlantis project comprises a portfolio of operational PV projects located in Poland, boasting a total installed capacity of 88.5 MWp and an investment scale of approximately EUR 58 million. In 2023 alone, the portfolio generated remarkable 90,000 MWh of clean energy, effectively alleviating the sequential pressure on Poland to meet its emission reduction targets. Under the backdrop of declining inflation and a central bank policy conducive to lower interest rates in Poland, investors’ required rate of return leans towards a more moderate level. Simultaneously, a notable surge in transactions of PV assets across Poland and a noticeable scarcity of such available assets of significant scale have garnered considerable favor among both domestic and international investors for them. Up to now, the Atlantis project is undergoing smooth commercial operation, favorable maintenance, and desirable investment returns.

The successful final closing of Atlantis project has added to SINO-CEEF’s track record of green transformation and green financial practice in terms of invested projects, bolstered its talent pool and expanded its partnership network in CEE, and represented a pioneering and advantageous effort by SINO-CEEF to open up and profoundly develop the renewable energy market in CEE countries.
